Forum Jazz International – 2° edition
📍 Vienne
📅 Monday, June 29 through Thursday, July 2, 2026
A JAZZ(s)RA/Jazz à Vienne co-production – As part of the Jazz à Vienne festival

JAZZ(s)RA & JAZZ À VIENNE are teaming up once again to organize the 2nd edition of the INTERNATIONAL JAZZ FORUM!
From Monday, June 29 to Thursday, July 2, 2026, during the Jazz à Vienne Festival.

Four days and four evenings of workshops, lectures, speedmeetings, showcases, and concerts, opportunities for socializing, and a program featuring national and international professionals invited for the occasion, with the support of our partners: the Centre National de la Musique, the Institut Français, Sacem, Adami, Spedidam, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, the DRAC Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, the Instituto Cervantes, and the Spanish Embassy.

The objectives of this Forum are to :

• Present a regional artistic selection of eight projects chosen primarily on the basis of their export potential, an artistic selection from the country being honored by the Festival in 2026—Spain—and the Jazz à Vienne program featuring national artists (the Rezzo initiative) and international artists on the prestigious stage of the Théâtre Antique.

• Facilitate networking opportunities among artists, producers, distributors, specialized media, and institutional representatives through: two rounds of professional speed-matching sessions (400 one-on-one meetings), as well as workshops and themed conferences on topics such as exports/international markets, music for film and television, production/distribution, and more…

Join us for this second edition of the Forum Jazz International to expand your network, hone your skills, discover a unique lineup of artists, and enjoy the welcoming spaces—including access to the Ancient Theater!

Given the limited capacity of the meeting spaces and the high demand for speed-meetings, we recommend that you book your spot as soon as possible! JAZZ(s)RA will send you the links to access the events and register for the speed-meetings once your payment has been received.

We look forward to welcoming you !

TUESDAY, JUNE 30

Opening Plenary Session: “Producing and Promoting Jazz in 2026: Toward a New Partnership Between Institutions and Professionals?”

10h-13h : Le Club
Audience: professionals in the jazz and contemporary music industry

In 2026, the jazz sector—and the contemporary music scene more broadly—is evolving amid a profound transformation of economic balances and public priorities: the reduction or reallocation of national funding mechanisms (FONPEPs, “Better Production, Better Distribution” programs, etc.), the restructuring of resources allocated to CNM programs, new directions and changes in the operating procedures of Sacem, Adami, and Spedidam, and complex budgetary trade-offs by local authorities that most often prioritize sports, heritage, and major events at the expense of “year-round” live performance—these are all signs that call into question the current model of production and distribution and that warrant reevaluation.

In this context, how can we guarantee artistic employment, support creation, ensure the circulation of works, and strengthen the structuring of teams? What new balances can be devised between public responsibility and professional initiative? This plenary session aims to open a frank dialogue among practitioners in the field to outline the contours of a new cooperation pact—one that is clearer, more inclusive, and more sustainable for the future of music production and distribution in France and its regions. A discussion followed by an exchange between representatives of institutions and collective management organizations, who will share their approaches aimed at achieving a better balance between “better production/

“Music for Film” Series: An Overview of Training Programs in Music for Film

10h–12h : musée gallo-romain de Saint-Romain-en-Gal – Auditorium
Audience: artists, students, educators

Music for visual media is now at the heart of many creative sectors: film, television series, video games, animation, advertising, and digital content. For musicians, it opens up rich yet demanding career opportunities, where creativity must constantly interact with the visuals, the narrative, and production constraints.

This conference offers an introduction to training paths in music for visual media, addressing the key skills to be developed: composition, orchestration, computer-assisted music (CAM), synchronization, working with visuals, as well as collaboration with directors, editors, and producers. It will explore the artistic and professional challenges of the field: finding one’s place between personal expression and commissioned work, understanding market realities, and building a versatile and sustainable career profile. Through concrete examples, the aim is to raise young musicians’ awareness of the specific challenges of this profession (copyright, deadlines, tools, professional integration) and to provide them with guidance to consider music for film as a possible, demanding, and exciting path for their future careers.

Photographers' Gathering

10h30-12h : Église Saint-Pierre
Audience: amateur and professional photographers

As part of the International Jazz Forum – Second Edition, organized at Jazz à Vienne, this event dedicated to photographers aims to highlight a vital—yet still underdeveloped—component of the jazz industry. For several months now, efforts have been underway to promote this cultural heritage, particularly through collaboration with collectors. This initiative has brought to light the richness of existing archives and the importance of preserving them. In this vein, it now seems essential to extend this discussion to photographers, whose perspectives have helped document, shape, and disseminate the history of jazz.

This meeting thus aims to create a space for exchange and structuring, in order to bring these actors together around a shared vision of “heritage-building.” Through their images, photographers play a vital role in the living memory of jazz: they capture its moments, faces, and places, and construct its representations.

This collective gathering will be an opportunity to:
– better understand their professional and artistic practices,
– identify the specific challenges they face (rights, distribution, recognition, working conditions…),
– explore the issue of their archives (creation, preservation, promotion),
– and lay the groundwork for a collective dynamic across the sector.

Sampling is Beautiful
